Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 23, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Triads (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the Guitar Triads Android app. We believe in collecting as little as possible. We do not require you to create an account to use the app.

2. Information We Collect

a) No account data

The Guitar Triads Android app does not require sign-in. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identity information directly through the app.

b) Subscription data via RevenueCat

When you purchase a subscription, our payment provider RevenueCat receives information from Google Play about your in-app purchase, including a non-personal subscriber ID, your purchase receipt, and which subscription product you bought. This information is used to validate your subscription and grant you access to PRO features.

RevenueCat’s privacy practices are described at revenuecat.com/privacy.

c) On-device data

Practice progress, preferences (volume, fret range, scale, etc.), and lesson completion are stored locally on your device using Android standard storage. This data never leaves your device.

d) Product analytics and session recordings via PostHog

We use PostHog to collect anonymous product analytics and session recordings so we can understand which features are used, where users get stuck, and how to improve the app.

PostHog receives:

  • Anonymous events: which screens you visit, which buttons you tap, which chords, lessons and practice modes you use, app version, Android version, device model, and country (derived from IP — the IP itself is discarded after the country lookup).

  • Session recordings: a reconstruction of your interactions with the app interface (taps, scrolls, navigation), without recording the audio you produce or any personal content. Recordings are tied to an anonymous device-scoped identifier, not to your name, email, or Google account.

We do not link these analytics to a personally identifiable user. PostHog’s privacy practices are described at posthog.com/privacy.

We retain analytics events for up to 12 months; session recordings are retained for up to 30 days, then deleted automatically.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email, or phone number

  • Precise location (we only see the country derived from your IP at the moment a request is made; the IP is then discarded)

  • Contacts, photos, or microphone audio

  • Browsing history outside the app

  • Advertising identifiers

We do not use the Android Advertising ID or any advertising SDK. We do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

4. How Subscription Data Is Used

RevenueCat receives subscription events from Google Play to verify entitlements and prevent fraud. Google is the merchant of record for all subscriptions; we do not receive your payment details (card number, billing address).

5. Data Security

Subscription receipts are validated over HTTPS. On-device data is stored using Android’s standard storage APIs. You can delete all on-device data by uninstalling the app.

6. Children’s Privacy

Guitar Triads is suitable for general audiences, including children old enough to play guitar. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your Choices

  • You can turn product analytics and session recordings off with the Share Usage Data switch in Settings › Preferences. Turning it off stops collection from your device, including any session recording in progress.

  • You can stop providing any data by uninstalling the app — all on-device data is erased on uninstall, and no further analytics events are sent from your device.

  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

  • Turning the switch off does not delete data already collected. To have analytics or subscription data tied to your device deleted, email hello@triads.app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date above will reflect the most recent revision.

9. Contact

Questions about this Privacy Policy? Email us at hello@triads.app.

10. Delete Your Data

Guitar Triads for Android has no accounts, so there is no account to delete. To request deletion of the data tied to your device, follow these steps:

1. Email hello@triads.app with the subject “Delete my data” from the Android app. If you can, say roughly when you used the app and on which phone; that helps us find the anonymous records tied to your device.

2. We will delete the anonymous analytics events and session recordings tied to your device from PostHog, and ask RevenueCat to delete the purchase records tied to your device, within 30 days.

3. You will receive a confirmation email when the deletion is complete.

What is deleted: analytics events, session recordings and the anonymous identifiers tied to your device; purchase records held by RevenueCat. What is kept: nothing on our side. Google Play keeps its own purchase and subscription records under Google’s privacy policy; subscriptions are cancelled in the Google Play app. Data stored only on your phone (practice progress and preferences) is erased when you uninstall the app.
