Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 10, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Triads ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Triads iOS app. We believe in collecting as little as possible. We do not require you to create an account to use the app.
2. Information We Collect
a) No account data
The Triads iOS app does not require sign-in. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identity information directly through the app.
b) Subscription data via RevenueCat
When you purchase a subscription, our payment provider RevenueCat receives information from Apple about your in-app purchase, including a non-personal subscriber ID, your purchase receipt, and which subscription product you bought. This information is used to validate your subscription and grant you access to PRO features.
RevenueCat's privacy practices are described at revenuecat.com/privacy.
c) On-device data
Practice progress, preferences (volume, fret range, scale, etc.), notification settings, and lesson completion are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage. This data never leaves your device.
d) Product analytics and session recordings via PostHog
We use PostHog to collect anonymous product analytics and session recordings so we can understand which features are used, where users get stuck, and how to improve the app.
PostHog receives:
Anonymous events: which screens you visit, which buttons you tap, which lessons and chords you practice, app version, iOS version, device model, and country (derived from IP — the IP itself is discarded after the country lookup).
Session recordings: a reconstruction of your interactions with the app interface (taps, scrolls, navigation), without recording the audio you produce or any personal content. Recordings are tied to an anonymous device-scoped identifier, not to your name, email, or Apple ID.
We do not link these analytics to a personally identifiable user. PostHog's privacy practices are described at posthog.com/privacy.
We retain analytics events for up to 12 months; session recordings are retained for up to 30 days, then deleted automatically.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
Your name, email, or phone number
Precise location (we only see the country derived from your IP at the moment a request is made; the IP is then discarded)
Contacts, photos, or microphone audio
Browsing history outside the app
Advertising identifiers
We do not use IDFA or Apple's App Tracking Transparency. We do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
4. How Subscription Data Is Used
RevenueCat receives subscription events from Apple to verify entitlements and prevent fraud. Apple is the merchant of record for all subscriptions; we do not receive your payment details (card number, billing address).
5. Data Security
Subscription receipts are validated over HTTPS. On-device data is stored using Apple's standard storage APIs. You can delete all on-device data by deleting the app.
6. Children's Privacy
Triads is suitable for general audiences, including children old enough to play guitar. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Your Choices
Opt out of analytics: email hello@triads.app and we will block your device's anonymous distinct identifier from further collection. We are also working on an in-app opt-out toggle that will appear in Settings in a future version.
Stop providing any data: uninstall the app. All on-device data is erased on uninstall, and no further analytics events are sent from your device.
Manage your subscription: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
Request data deletion: email hello@triads.app to have any analytics or subscription data tied to your device deleted.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
